Ibiza Boats takes the future seriously. Developing sustainable products for the sea requires collaboration and research. In several areas.
The road to electric boats
New standards
We are now testing electric drivelines from Norwegian SeaDrive for our concept boat. The ISO regulations are currently not up to date with developments and we participate in the work of designing this: There is no ISO standard for the use of lithium batteries in leisure boats. We therefore work with our partners and the Norwegian Maritime Directorate to develop the necessary and approved documentation in anticipation of harmonized standards. By switching to electric driveline on an existing boat, this must be CE marked again. As of today, “Det Norske Veritas” will also not approve the use of lithium batteries before there are approved ways to extinguish a possible fire.
Testing of new materials
Recycled plastic
IBIZA tests new material for boat production: Polyester mixed with recycled soda bottles! «Green polyester» AROPOL PTM208TB from INEOS. An IBIZA 640 can then reuse around 5000 plastic bottles (120kg). Test boat is ready for testing. Laboratory tests of material quality are performed at SINTEF.
Ibiza's new materials technology will contribute to a life cycle with far less consequences for the environment.
What can you do for the environment with your boat today?
Drive slower! Find the pace where your boat thrives. Good maintenance and cleaning of the underwater hull also results in lower fuel consumption.
IBIZA participates in the research project "Radically improved competitiveness in costly development processes". The theme is "smarter and correct use of regulations, testing and testing of new materials and technology".
